Dr. Rajesh Sagar is currently working as a Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, New Delhi. He is MD from NIMHANS, Bangalore. Honorary PhD. He has received Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) from Specialist Training Authority of the Medical Royal Colleges (UK) and General Medical Council, UK. He has been awarded the Fellowship of National Academy of Medical Sciences and fellowship of International Medical Science Academy. He is awarded Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh, UK). He is Honorary Professor in department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne, Australia (2017-22) & University of Leicester, UK (2021-contd.). Chair, Mental health group of Global Burden of Disease-India.
Currently, he is member, Central Mental Health Authority (CMHA), Govt. of India, however served as secretary of the same (2005-2018) He has been an Expert/advisory member for several organizations incl expert member of various National Task forces incl. on COVID by ICMR and of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Member of Governing council and scientific advisory board of ICMR. Member of UK Research Initiative, UKRI. He has published articles more than 700 research papers, chapters, books and more than 1.2 lakh citations. He has received several awards and honors including ICMR Award, AIIMS Research Award, Indian Psychiatry Society Award, Distinguished Alumnus Award, All India Children’s Champion Award, Outstanding Researcher award as country’s Topmost researcher in psychology/mental health based on research output in SCOPUS (2018, 2023), Name listed in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking by the Stanford University publication (2019-22),PPA oration award for Indian Association of Child & Adolescent Mental Health, International Contribution Award for International Association of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry & Allied Professions (IACAPAP)
